Dar El Jeld is rooted in the ancient medina of Fez, where leather craftsmanship is not just a trade — it is an identity. Our master artisans, or maalems, learned their craft from their fathers and grandfathers in the legendary tanneries that have made Fez synonymous with the finest leather in the world.
We use the same time-honored techniques — natural dyes from saffron, poppy, and cedar wood, hides softened in limestone and pigeon guano — methods unchanged for over a thousand years. The result is leather of extraordinary character, supple and rich, that only grows more beautiful with age.
